Vigeo Gut Health

Thriving Gut Health begins with organic and fresh items. What you put on the end of your fork can heal you.

Good Gut Health starts with a Good Microbiome

I will be giving you tools for your GUT HEALTH today on how to stay strong and healthy. Especially through Holidays, cold and flu season and just stressful times.

It is true that most diseases, inflammation, mental imbalances and restless sleep can all start with what you put on the end of your fork. Gut Health is the most important goal you should strive for. I know you have heard the words “Gut Microbiome” so let us start with explaining what that is before learning how to care for it.

Our gut, also known as your second brain, is best described as our own unique ecosystem in your gut lining. This miniature biome has trillions of microorganisms that have an interactive relationship with us. We both can benefit from each other or work against each other.

Gut Health starts with good discipline

I know it can be a struggle to say “no” to all those delicious looking baked goods, holiday drinks, and even the comfort foods like lasagna. I know you are thinking lasagna cannot be bad for you, but gluten in the noodles, dairy from the cheese combined with meat creates havoc on your Gut Health.

This is the time where you can practice choosing self-control over temporary indulgence. Your future self will thank you. The integrity of Healthy Gut is more important than risking illness and inflammation.

Get GOOD Gut Health and avoid Dysbiosis

Dysbiosis, which is just a fancy word for saying a gut that is unbalanced and on its way to causing damage can lead to chronic disease. It is important to consume the right foods. Like servicing your car, you need to service your gut. Here are just a few tips to keep that Healthy Gut in check and avoid future pain.

Incorporate fiber rich foods, fruits and vegetables. Yep, grab an apple and say no to the cookie. Avoid heavy caffeine, green tea is beneficial if you need a little caffeine boost. Spicy foods are a definite antagonist for your little biome friends. Keep your Gut Healthy and avoid those holiday drinks as they trigger an overproduction of stomach acid that you will be feeling in the middle of the night.

A healthy Gut plays a huge role on mental health

Have you heard of the Gut-Brain axis? It basically describes how the gut and brain correlate to your overall health. Your gut is known as your second brain. Stay with me while I describe one aspect to comprehend this connection. A Healthy Gut is important because it houses 90% of the production of serotonin, one of the ingredients from that “Feel Good cocktail” we discussed in our Brain Blog.

Serotonin is crucial for that peace and happiness we feel. Did you know that stress and screen time can actually affect your gut and stunt that serotonin production? For Good Gut Health try fasting from those screens and spend some quiet time with God.

Thrive with Gut Health

Outside forces affect inside Gut health. Be on guard, stand firm and do not let the bad in. I understand sometimes temptation is stronger than our will power. So, when you can’t pass up on that fresh baked cookie staring you in the face, do not be hard on yourself there is always tomorrow to totally redeem yourself.

At 54 I am stronger, healthier, have more endurance and peace of mind than I think I ever had. Yes, there is wisdom with age. Take it from me you can dump bad habits and incorporate good ones, if I did it you can. Let’s get your Gut Health Thriving.

Exercise daily even small bursts of activity is beneficial like a short walk around the building, get a standing desk and do leg raises throughout the day. Activity is the movement needed to keep your cells circulating and the metabolic machine working properly.

A Healthy Gut starts in the morning.

A few suggestions to help you get through the season thriving. Gut Health could depend on how you start your day. Start off watching that sun come up outside (not from a window), fresh air and the sun rays are important. read God’s word and spend some time in prayer. Then, after a healthy breakfast take that probiotic, vitamin C and yes vitamin D as wintertime is a little darker than the summer. A Healthy Gut requires you to take time for yourself. Practice self-care and choose wisely what goes on the end of your fork. Strengthen that immune system with a good night sleep.

I am here to lead and guide you to feeling stronger, healthier and metabolically fit. As your Health and Wellness coach we will pick the right nutrition plan and fitness schedule that works for you.
